How much time can we allocate for a movie or a novel? And how much time do we have to say goodbye to a loved one at a funeral? In an era of information explosion and fast consumption, time seems to always be compressed, and fragmented time has changed the way we interact with the world. Taking a photo, watering a plant - these simple actions might be the only interaction we have with a flower. For the artist, creation is a "residency" with a certain relationship, person, or object. A novel is the artist's sedimentation of a place and relationships. Time here can be present, two or three years ago, or even three or four hundred years ago. Driven by the same spirit, "Give You an Orange" the theme work of the exhibition, expresses the artist's profound thoughts on longer and more sincere relationships between people and objects.The exhibition is not only an artistic exploration of time and relationships but also a reflection and questioning of how we "reside" in this world, with others, and with ourselves.Acrylic on paper，26*36 cm，2024贾志兴，艺术家、导演、戏剧影视美术指导。毕业于厦门大学艺术学院，获硕士学位。2011和2017年荷兰MAAS art residence，2024年入选第八届约翰·莫尔绘画奖（中国）,现工作生活于北京。艺术家以往的作品主要以摄影和行为艺术为主。近年来的创作逐渐转向小说和绘画，以家族图像、口述史、地方志与地方文学等群体记忆为切入点，探索艺术创作的“背离”，思考与主流叙事之间的张力与解构。赋予作品以独特的不确定性与幽默性，展现了对记忆、历史与文化语境的多维思考。此外，艺术家不断探索在戏剧影视领域的实践和创新表达，主创并制作了二十余部影视与戏剧作品。导演作品有《长头发外公》《海带呀海带》等。Jia Zhixing is an artist, director, and art director for theater and film. He graduated from the College of Arts at Xiamen University with a master's degree. In 2011 and 2017, he participated in the MAAS art residence in the Netherlands, and in 2024, he was selected for the 8th John Moores Painting Prize (China). He currently lives and works in Beijing.The artist's previous works mainly focused on photography and performance art. In recent years, his creations have shifted towards novels and paintings, using family images, oral history, local records, and local literature as entry points to explore the "deviation" in art creation. With insight on the tension and deconstruction with mainstream narratives, he imbues his works with unique uncertainty and humor, showcasing multidimensional reflections on memory, history, and cultural contexts. In addition, the artist continuously explores practices and innovative expressions in the field of theater and film, creating over twenty film and theater productions. His directorial works include "Grandpa with Long Hair" and "Kelp, Kelp," among others.
